Review
Moosend review: cheap email marketing while your list is small
Unlimited sends with the price set by list size — $19 a month for 2,000 contacts on the yearly plan.
Best for: Small businesses and creators with lists under about 10,000 contacts who send often and want automation.
From $7/mo billed yearly (500 contacts) See Moosend plans
Most email tools charge you for how much you send. Moosend charges for how many people are on your list, and lets you send as much as you like to them. That one difference decides who it suits: a shop or newsletter that emails weekly to a few thousand people pays far less than on a per-send plan, while a fast-growing list gets expensive in steps. This review is built from Moosend's own pricing page and terms, read in October 2026. We have not run a campaign on it.
Who this is for
- Small businesses and creators with lists under about 10,000 contacts who send often
- Online shops that want automation triggered by what people browse and buy — Moosend lists product-view, cart and purchase tracking among its features
- Anyone comparing prices against Mailchimp, Kit or MailerLite — Moosend itself publishes comparison pages against those three

What is good, and what is not
Good
- Sends are unlimited, so a weekly or daily sender is not surprised by the bill — it moves only when the list does.
- The entry price is low: $9 a month for 500 contacts, or $7 if you pay for the year.
- The 30-day trial needs no credit card, and a person on several lists is counted once, because Moosend bills on unique email addresses.
- Occasional senders can buy credits that never expire instead of a subscription.
- Moosend takes PayPal as well as cards.
Not so good
- The price climbs in steps as the list grows: $88 a month at 10,000 contacts and $160 at 25,000 on monthly billing. — this matters if you expect to grow fast. Get a quote and compare at your target list size before you commit.
- There is no permanent free plan, only a 30-day trial. — if you want a free tier to test on a very small list, the alternatives table below has one.
- Several features appear as add-ons on the custom Moosend+ plan: transactional emails, custom reports, dedicated IP, SSO, hosted files and CC/BCC. — check whether Pro covers what you need; most newsletter and shop senders will not need these.
- Pro is capped at 5 team members. — this affects agencies and larger teams, not solo senders.
The verdict
Moosend suits you if you send often to a list under roughly 10,000 people and want automation without paying per email. A 2,000-contact list is $19 a month on the yearly plan against $24 month to month, which is $60 a year saved. The warnings are real: the price rises with every step up in list size, there is no free plan after the trial, and some extras cost more on a custom plan. The 30-day trial needs no credit card, so the cheapest way to find out is to import a real list and build one automation before you pay anything.
If it is not the right fit
No single product suits everyone. If the drawbacks above rule it out for you, these are where we would look next — including options that earn us nothing:
| Option | From | Better if |
|---|---|---|
| GetResponse | From EUR 16 a month at 1,000 contacts | Teams that also want webinars and funnels in the same tool |
| beehiiv | Free (Launch plan) | Newsletters that want a free start and tools to grow and monetise an audience |
| MailerLite | — | Worth pricing against Moosend at your list size — Moosend publishes its own comparison page against it |
Questions people ask
Is Moosend free?
There is a 30-day free trial with no credit card. After it ends you need a paid plan or purchased email credits. We did not find a permanent free plan on the pricing page.
How is Moosend priced?
By the number of contacts, not by emails sent. Sends are unlimited on Pro. Moosend counts unique email addresses, so someone who sits on several lists is billed once.
Can Moosend send transactional emails?
Yes. Moosend says it supports transactional email through SMTP and its API. On the plans table, transactional emails are listed as an add-on for the custom Moosend+ plan.
Does Moosend offer discounts?
15% off six-monthly billing and 20% off yearly billing. Nonprofits get a further 25% on top of the yearly discount.
