What is good, and what is not
Good
- The free tier is a genuine trial rather than a teaser: 3 scans a day at up to 2,000 words each, no card required, so you can test it on your own writing before paying anything.
- At $12.95 a month the Pro plan covers about 200,000 words of scanning — cheap if you are checking a steady stream of freelance copy.
- One subscription covers AI detection, plagiarism, readability, grammar and a fact-checking aid, so you are not paying two or three vendors for overlapping jobs.
- Full-site scanning from a URL is unusual at this price — useful when you have inherited a site and need to know what is in it.
Not so good
- Credits expire monthly and do not roll over. — matters if your workload is seasonal; irrelevant if you check copy every week, which is who this is built for.
- False positives fall hardest on writing by people who learned English as a second language — independent testing flagged roughly 16% of non-native English writing as AI, and a Stanford study put detectors as a class at 61.3% on TOEFL essays. — this is why a flag should start a conversation with your writer, not end one. Do unused credits carry over to next month?
